Brass bowls with Honey, Flax seeds and Curd

This article was published in 2015 on the OG cityogini blog. Yes... and when I say it, I really do mean that it IS the best EVER toxin flusher. Hold the eye roll right there... I know what you are going to think. I have heard of these before, and they almost always gag you after the first spoonful, but not this one!

It can be consumed daily if you become too fond of it like me, but basically, if you run it like a three-day cleanse, that should work fine too. I wouldn't recommend it for very advanced pregnancies, as increased peristaltic movement might not be such a good idea.

A bowl with brown sugar, a dollop of white yogurt, and golden honey. Warm yellow lighting, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

So, here we go. We need just three ingredients:

  • Curd

  • Flax seed powder

  • Honey

To get flax seed powder, take a fistful of flax seeds and dry grind them in a blender. You can now store this powder in your fridge for later use, which I'll discuss later in this blog.

Coming back to the Toxin Flush... Mix all three together so that they are well combined.

Now, technically, your Toxin Flush is ready. But if this tiny little dumpling looks too ominous to you, as it does to me, add a little water to achieve a consistency you prefer. And that's it! Try it out! For my friends who have been to Poojas and Satyanarayan kathas as kids, this nutty sweet curd concoction might bring memories of the Prasad that we got there rushing back to you.

Anyways, it tastes fantastic and is one of the best things to have as a pre-workout snack. It does wonders for my mid-morning Yoga practice. The flax seed powder we prepared can also be added to your dals, gravies, and curries to add extra roughage, making them more wholesome and lowering the overall glycemic index (GI) of the food you consume. So, it's a dieter's best friend too! I hope you'll try it out and enjoy it as a part of your regular cleanse routine or a cool snack in peak summers.
