Social media is one of the best ways to promote your business. However, it is not as easy to get started with social media. So, we have put together a series of blogs that will help you step up your social media game! The first one in the series is the Oh so popular Instagram!

Instagram is a great platform to promote your business to a variety of audience. So, here are six tips that we have put together to help you get started with Instagram.

Read till the end for an extra tip that can come in handy before you start promoting your business on Instagram!

Use every feature Instagram has to offer
The very first tip that I have for you is to start by using every feature that Instagram has to offer. There are a bunch of external tools for you to help with your Instagram; however, the tools that Instagram provides are best to get you started. Start by setting up a business profile. You can do this from the setting menu of your account (Use the Switch to Business profile tab)

Use the power of hashtags.
Hashtags are to Instagram what keywords is to google search. Choose your hashtags wisely as they can increase the traffic on your post immensely. Be smart with the hashtags you use. Don't use all brand-specific hashtags and don't use too many general hashtags either.

Interact with your audience
I cannot emphasise this tip enough! Interact with your audience. Use Instagram stickers to conduct a quiz, a poll, or a random game. To increase the traffic, you can even run giveaways on your account.

Don't over-post
I have seen people go overboard with the number of posts they have. Posting 5 times a day won't increase the traffic on your page. You will just run out of content ideas soon.
Post a reasonable amount of times each week. Three posts a week is generally considered a fair amount to keep your followers engaged. In the meantime, you can use features such as IGTV, reels, or stories to interact with your followers.

Network and socialise
Try contacting another Instagram account with the same idea as yours. You could work on a collab or promote each other's Instagram page hence benefiting both of you. Try to start by contacting pages which do not have a very high number of following and are a level similar or a little more than yours. Reaching out to accounts at the same level can give you topics to start a conversation, and also the chances of them replying is more than someone with a vast following responding to you.

Make your profile aesthetic and give it a theme.
For everyone who said looks are overrated, it may be true in case of humans but not in case of Instagram profiles! Plan your feed, give it a theme, make it look aesthetic. Colours and branding are more related than you thought! People often tend to relate colours to things that remind them of it. Hence, using a theme or a colour scheme not only helps you make your account look aesthetic, but it also creates a brand image.

So, that were all the tips from our side. Now, as promised, here is the bonus that is going to help you stay consistent with your posts. Before you start posting regularly on Instagram, make sure you have some extra content and the content for at least the first month lined up. This way, even if you end up lagging on content creation, you will always have extra content on hand to keep your audience engaged while you work on new ideas!

Lastly, remember that you are not going to get 1000 followers in a day. So, don't get discouraged if there is very little activity on your Instagram for the first few months. Just remember to keep trying new ideas and techniques, and you will soon have the account flooding with followers!
